What is Titanium Weld Neck Flange

Titanium Weld Neck Flange(WN) is a kind of pipe fittings, which refers to the transition pieces of Titanium Flange and pipes with necks, as well as with pipe weld necks. Butt-welding flange is not easy to deformation, good sealing, widely used. It has corresponding stiffness and elasticity requirements, butt welding thinning transition is reasonable. The distance between the weld and the joint surface is large, and the joint surface has no welding temperature deformation. Adopting relatively complex cough horn structure, it is suitable for pipelines with large pressure or temperature fluctuation or high temperature and high pressure. And low-temperature pipeline, generally used for PN greater than 2.5 MPa pipeline and valve (Titanium Valve) connection; also used for the transportation of expensive, flammable, explosive media pipeline.
 
These Titanium Flanges are flanges designed for connection to piping systems by butt welding. Titanium WN flanges are relatively expensive due to their long necks, but are preferred in high stress applications. The neck or hub transfers the stress to the titanium which reduces stress concentrations at the bottom of the weld neck flange. The gradual transition in wall thickness from the bottom of the hub to the butt weld is important for pipe reinforcement.

Advantages:
Connection is not easy to deformation, good sealing effect, wide range of applications, suitable for temperature or pressure fluctuations in the pipeline or high temperature, high pressure and low temperature pipeline, also used for the transportation of expensive media, flammable and explosive media, toxic gases on the pipeline
 
Disadvantages:
Butt-welding flanges with necks are bulky, heavy, expensive and difficult to install and position. Therefore, it is easier to be bumped during transportation.

1. Corrosion resistance: titanium has extremely high corrosion resistance to a variety of acids, alkalis and salts, especially in seawater, wet chlorine gas, salt spray and other harsh environments, which can effectively prevent corrosion and extend the service life of the equipment.
2. High strength and light weight: the density of titanium is only 60% of steel, but its strength is close to or exceeds that of many alloy steels, therefore, in the case of needing high bearing capacity but limited by weight, titanium necked butt weld flanges are an ideal choice.
3.thermal stability: titanium has good thermal stability and oxidation resistance, can maintain stable physical and chemical properties at high temperatures, and therefore suitable for high temperature, high pressure working conditions.
4. fatigue resistance: titanium material has good fatigue resistance, suitable for use in the environment of frequent starting and stopping, large vibration.

Specific applications of titanium neck butt weld flanges include but are not limited to:

-Chemical plants: used for piping connections for conveying corrosive chemicals, such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, etc.
-Oil and gas industry: piping systems for conveying crude oil, natural gas and other media during oil and gas extraction, transportation and treatment.
-Pharmaceutical industry: In the process of pharmaceutical production, titanium flanges are commonly used for piping connections conveying various pharmaceuticals and intermediates due to the strict requirements for cleanliness and corrosion resistance.
